Steel Industry

Steel industry is one of those fastest developing industries all over the world but due to excessive release of CO2, this development is affecting our environment and that is why new researches are going on through which we can reduce this emission. It was discovered long time ago that Hydrogen is one of the cleanest energy sources present on earth.
Hydrogen has high calorific value, good thermal conductivity and high reaction rate and due to these properties, it is considered to be a best resource to get used in steel industry. It is often used in annealing stainless steel alloys, magnetic steel alloys, sintering and copper brazing. Hydrogen gas acts as a reducing agent in processing metallic ores. It is an important application in metallurgy and industries that require pure metals. Hydrogen is mixed with inert gases to obtain a reducing atmosphere, which is required for heat-treating steel, welding and many other applications in the metallurgical industry.

Power Industry

To fulfil the daily raising demand pf power we need sources that won’t get extinct and are renewable.
Hydrogen is always considered to be the best alternative fuel. It can be utilized as the energy carrier for generating electrical power with hydrogen fuel cells and hydrogen combustion engines, where hydrogen combines with oxygen from the air to create electricity. As long as the hydrogen fuel is being supplied, the fuel cell can run continuously and generate energy and the by-products are only heat and water. Many fuel cells are utilized today for distributed power generation that require integration with a fuel processor to produce a hydrogen-rich gas from a hydrocarbon-based fuel such as natural gas or propane. And so HGPL makes it easier to use Hydrogen as an alternate fuel with is latest technology and world class infrastructure.

Food & Drugs

Hydrogen is used to convert unsaturated oils to saturated oils also known as hydrogenation. The purpose is to raise the melting point, increase the oxidation and heat stability of the oil. This process also improves the colour, taste and flavour of the oil. Typical vegetable oils are derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids (containing more than one carbon-carbon double bonds). Their partial hydrogenation reduces most but not all, of these carbon-carbon double bonds. These hardened fats are then used generally in combination for the formulation and processing of vegetable ghee (vanaspati).
Hydrogen plays an important role in drug industry and medical practices as well. It is an important physiological regulatory factor with antioxidant, anti- inflammatory and anti- apoptotic protective effects on cells and organs, with properties to mitigate various disease like cancer.

Chemical Industry

Hydrogen and chemicals are of same family and belongs to each other. So, development of chemical industry without hydrogen is not possible.
Hydrogen is used in most of the procedures that are used in chemical industry. The Haber-Bosch process is the main industrial procedure for the production of ammonia today, and involves the direct combination of hydrogen and nitrogen under pressure and temperature in the presence of a metal catalyst. Hydrogen is also used in manufacturing of hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, solvents, polymers, fertilizer, methanol etc.
Hydrogen is also used in Petrochemical methods like hydrodesulphurization, hydro cracking, and hydrodealkylation.
With so many uses, hydrogen is one of the most widely material in the chemical industry.

Refineries

Hydrogen is used in refinery to lower the sulphur contained in crude oil as well as to convert heavy crude to lighter, easier to refine, and more marketable products. Hydrogen is almost used in every industry because of its cheap value and more benefits. The petrochemical industry uses hydrogen gas to process common fossil fuels, upgrading them to purer forms. Petrochemical methods involving hydrogen include hydrodesulphurization, hydro cracking, and hydrodealkylation.
It also affects our environment in the least way as compared to other gases. hydrogen is highly used in refinery and its demand is going to increase a lot in future because the use of diesel fuel has increased all around the world. For this there should be a good and reliable source of hydrogen where it can be purchased from easily. HGPL provides hydrogen to the refinery at a reasonable cost and also capable of installing hydrogen on site.

Glass Industry

Hydrogen is used to improve the efficiency in the process like cutting and polishing of glass, heat treating, and melting and softening applications. In order to allow the irregularities in the glass to even out, the glass is held in a controlled atmosphere with a ratio of approximately 90% N2:10% H2.
To produce sheets of flawless glazing for windows, doors, etc., a continuous ribbon of glass is “floated” on a bed of tin. The hydrogen in the controlled atmosphere acts as a scavenging agent to ensure an oxygen-free environment, since molten tin is highly sensitive to oxidation.
To use hydrogen in all these processes it is needed in much amount. HGPL provides hydrogen plants and hydrogen gas to many glass manufacturing factories.

Transport

Transport industry is developing at a very fast rate. Mobility of people and goods is very necessary and somewhat is related to the economic growth. For this, modes of transport should be safe and friendly both economically and environmentally. Hydrogen is used in transport sector because of its high gravimetric energy density.
Major auto manufacturers are developing hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) designed for personal use.
One of the main and important reason is, hydrogen is abundantly available in combined form on the earth and its oxidation product (water) does not contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. Hydrogen fuel cells are much cleaner and that is why used in many industries. HGPL has sufficient and best hydrogen supply.

Semiconductor

Semiconductor manufacturing is an intensive process which uses large volumes of industrial gases. For this reason, semiconductor fabricators need a reliable supply of pure hydrogen.
Hydrogen is used as carrier gas in semiconductor processes, especially for silicon deposition or crystal growing. Hydrogen is used to prevent oxidation from occurring during the fabrication process and also used as a carrier gas, delivering gaseous metals and their oxides to reaction chambers.
It is also used as a scavenger gas in atmosphere soldering as well as for annealing copper films. The use of forming gases (that is H2 diluted in nitrogen) allows virtually a complete elimination of oxygen and its inconveniences in medium to high temperature processes.
